Recycle is life

Do you like to recycle? Do you believe that recycling is the best way to save the environment? If you do, in Thessaloniki in Greece you will have the opportunity not only to recycle but also to recreate things from recyclable materials

In Thessaloniki, the second biggest town in Greece, from 2011 they placed bins all over the town. they put the bins in every corner of the city so it is very easy to find one.These bins are characteristically blue and they are only for recyclable materials such as glass, plastic and paper. These bins and the habit of recycling started back then and they are the way to reduce the trash of the city, and the way to protect the environment, in order to save the raw materials that came from the nature. The first two years 3.5% of Thessaloniki’s citizens recycled, but after 2013 this percentage raised year by year. Also in Thessaloniki you can find bins in which you can throw electric devises or batteries and they recycle them too. Yoy will find this kind of bins usually in front of  electrical shops.This is an alternative way of living and in Thessaloniki you have the possibility to live this way.

The most interesting about recycling in Thessaloniki are the special bins, they called retributive recycle, and there is one in every area of the city. These bins are special because they are huge and because when you recycle something you get a receipt that inform you that you donated  1cent for every plastic bottle you recycle and 5cents for every glass bottle you recycle in an organization called ‘’smile of a child’’. In that way not only you protect the environment by recycling your trash but also you help some children to get a better life.

Also, in Thessaloniki you will find many organizations and also individual people who select recyclable materials and they transform them into something new. In that way, they recycle their trash and protect the environment but also they create new practical and stylish things. That people full of imagination and after a few hours of work they create something new. The municipality on Thessaloniki , two years ago, organized seminars in which they taught you how to create new things that you can use in your house from recyclable things in order not to throw away anything and not to burden the environment. After that they made a presentation of the things they have  created to sold them

So, in Thessaloniki you will have the opportunity to recycle and protect the environment you live in and to be creative with the things you think are useless.

So…recycle for a better life. Look for the blue bins and the special ones, and if you feel creative search your trash, put your imagination on and create your own new things.
